Metalwork
This workshop builds the load-bearing structures, the scaffolding, hinges, and fixings of a set. These structures are usually invisible, as they are often covered with wood. The Metalwork workshop has grown a lot in recent years.
The six metalworkers of the workshop work with metals such as iron and aluminium. The latter is lighter, but more delicate to weld and less rigid.

One of the most impressive challenges taken on by the metalworkers of La Monnaie was the construction of an aeroplane for the production of Œdipe (2011). The aeroplane had to be able to hold several singers on board!
